Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) invites applications for a Planning Manager within the Broadcast Operations & Planning team in Madrid, Spain. The role coordinates planning and implementation of venue facilities, services and delivery timelines for Games-time broadcast operations, ensuring alignment with OBS, OCOGs, YOGOCs, and the IOC.

• Relevant completed tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma).
• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Planning of Broadcast operations.
• 3-4 years in a managerial position or managing projects and stakeholders.
• Excellent proficiency of English required (native or bilingual).
• Tech savvy with ability to learn and adapt across platforms.
• Ability to deliver on project requirements within tight timelines.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholders; proactive problem solver.
• Prior involvement in major international sporting events is advantageous.

• In cooperation with Engineering, complete and submit game-time timelines to OCOG and attend related meetings.
• Report irregularities and issues to the Head of Department.
• During Games Time, support OBS Venue Management teams and related departments; participate in venue readiness and timelines.

Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) was created by the International Olympic Committee in 2001 in order to serve as the Host Broadcast organisation for all Olympic Games, Olympic Winter Games and Youth Olympic Games.

Job Description

The Planning Manager as part of the Broadcast Operations & Planning team serves as one of the OBS representatives with OCOGs and YOGOCs, ensuring alignment on Host Broadcaster operational requirements, venue facilities, services, and delivery timelines. Coordinate the planning and operational implementation of internal and external tasks as well as ensuring the Organising Committee-provided infrastructure and services at assigned venues are clear, while managing timelines, issues, reports, and stakeholder communications with OBS, OCOGs, YOGOCs, and the IOC to support seamless Games-time broadcast operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for various needs-gathering processes and for their smooth submission and validation.
• Manage and track OBS operational activities and to ensure that each one is consistently meeting deadlines and goals.
• Being assigned to a specific team (venue production team), manage the team activities including collating reports, creating meeting agendas, tracking issues and upcoming deadlines etc.
• Responsible for reviewing venue specific operational Policies and Procedures and resolve related issues.
• Organise and conduct venue surveys for the specific team; produce survey reports.
• In cooperation with the Engineering department, complete, review and submit the games time timelines to the OCOG and attend related meetings.
• Report any irregularities and issues to the Head of Department.
• During Games Time, participate in the activities of the BOC particularly in relation to venue readiness, installation timelines, issue resolution, reporting and information exchanges; provide support to OBS Venue Management teams, MRHs and OBS departments.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned outside of the Games Planning

Skills, Requirements & Qualifications

• Relevant completed tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma preferred).
• Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in Planning of Broadcast operations.
• 3-4 in a managerial position or managing projects and stakeholders to execute and ensure delivery of the tasks.
• Excellent proficiency of English required (native or bilingual). Additional languages will be appreciated.
• Tech savvy individual who possesses experience across various platforms to help improve some systems and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
• Ability to deliver on project requirements within tight timelines.
• Excellent communication skills for all stakeholders and proactivity in navigating through potential problems.
• Prior involvement in major international sporting events, such as the Olympic Games, is considered advantageous.
