Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) is seeking a Broadcast Technology Manager to lead planning, coordination and delivery of key broadcast technology projects within the Venue Technical Operations team. The role unites technical leadership, project ownership and vendor management to ensure new broadcast solutions are defined, integrated and tested for Games-time operations.

  • Degree in Advanced Electronics, Broadcast Engineering or related technical field.
  • 10–12+ years international experience in broadcast operations or tech integration.
  • Extensive knowledge of software-defined broadcasting and IP-based environments.
  • Knowledge of UHD and HDR workflows and related standards (SMPTE ST 2110, NMOS, PTP).
  • Systems integration, interoperability testing and operational readiness experience.
  • Cloud-enabled or virtualised broadcast technologies experience.
  • Experience managing international technology vendors and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proven project management of complex multi-disciplinary programmes.
  • Experience in live broadcast operations or major international events.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of key broadcast technology projects.
  • Own technology roadmaps and assess emerging broadcast technologies for future Games.
  • Oversee technical integration of SD-Broadcast, cloud workflows and orchestration platforms.
  • Provide technical ownership for UHD/HDR production workflows and standards.
  • Manage complex projects from concept to Games-time delivery with governance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners; report progress to senior stakeholders.
  • Define technical requirements, review proposals and manage vendor relationships.
  • Ensure security by design and compliance with cyber security policies.
  • Relocate to host city during Games-time and support delivery and readiness.

Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) was created by the International Olympic Committee in 2001 in order to serve as the Host Broadcast organisation for all Olympic Games, Olympic Winter Games and Youth Olympic Games.

About The Role:

The Broadcast Technology Manager will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of key broadcast technology projects within the Venue Technical Operations (VTO) department. This role brings together technical expertise, project ownership and vendor management to ensure new broadcast solutions are clearly defined, successfully integrated, tested and ready for Games-time operations.

Working across the Olympic lifecycle, the Broadcast Technology Manager will act as a key link between VTO, Broadcast Engineering, Technology, Cyber Security, Production Technical Managers and external partners. The role will help deliver secure, reliable and future-focused broadcast technology solutions that support OBS’ mission to bring the Olympic Games to audiences around the world.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Broadcast Technology Ownership
  • Develop technology roadmaps and assess emerging broadcast technologies for future Olympic Games.
  • Ensure solutions meet OBS operational needs and support the long-term technology strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to improve broadcast operations and introduce new ways of working.
  • Follow emerging broadcast technologies and assess their potential use for future Games.
Technical Integration
  • Lead the implementation and integration of Software Defined Broadcasting (SDB) architectures, including virtualised production, IP media infrastructures, cloud-enabled workflows and modern broadcast orchestration platforms.
  • Provide technical ownership for UHD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) production workflows, with expert knowledge of Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), HDR/SDR interoperability, colour management and professional video and audio standards.
  • Support projects involving audio over IP, timing, remote production, virtualised production systems and monitoring platforms.
  • Contribute to the integration of cloud-enabled broadcast workflows where relevant.
Project Management
  • Lead complex broadcast technology projects from concept through to Games-time delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, risks and dependencies.
  • Coordinate teams across OBS departments and external partners.
  • Prepare clear progress updates and reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Manage project governance, documentation and change control.
  • Ensure a smooth handover into Games-time support and operations.
Vendor & Service Delivery Management
  • Define clear technical requirements, specifications and Statements of Work.
  • Review technical proposals and support supplier selection activities.
  • Manage relationships with assigned technology vendors and service providers.
  • Monitor supplier performance against agreed deliverables and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate design reviews, technical workshops, testing, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to resolve technical, delivery and commercial issues.
Cyber Security (Knowledge)
  • Ensure broadcast technology solutions follow OBS cyber security policies and standards.
  • Apply secure-by-design principles throughout project planning and delivery.
  • Work with Cyber Security specialists to review risks and mitigation plans.
  • Support supplier security reviews and technical compliance activities.
  • Promote good cyber security practices across assigned technology projects.
Games-time Responsibilities
  • Relocate to the Host City during Games-time, expected to be around 4 months maximum.
  • Support installation, integration, commissioning and operational delivery.
  • Coordinate vendor support during Games-time operations.
  • Provide technical ownership of video quality standards.
  • Provide issue resolution and service recovery.
  • Support Venue Technical Operations throughout the Games period.
Skills, Requirements & Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Degree in Advanced Electronics, Broadcast Engineering or a related technical field.
  • More than 10-12 years of relevant international experience, including at least 8 years in similar roles involving complex broadcast operations or technology integration projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of software-defined broadcasting and modern IP-based broadcast environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of professional video and audio standards, including UHD and HDR workflows.
  • Knowledge of SMPTE ST 2110, NMOS, PTP and related broadcast technology standards.
  • Experience with systems integration, interoperability testing and operational readiness activities.
  • Experience implementing cloud-enabled or virtualised broadcast technologies.
  • Experience managing international technology vendors, service providers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proven project management experience delivering complex, multi-disciplinary technical programmes.
  • Experience in live broadcast operations and/or major international sporting events.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
  • Experience with Olympic Broadcasting Services, another Host Broadcaster or major event broadcasting environment.
  • Understanding of cyber security principles relevant to broadcast technology projects.
  • Familiarity with broadcast standards bodies such as SMPTE, EBU, DVB or JT-NM.
  • Project management qualifications such as PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent.
