Job description

General call for Grants allocated to research projects or groups to pursue Doctoral Studies: RESEARCH GROUP, Chair of Computational Mathematics, DeustoTech, at the University of Deusto.

The University of Deusto, within the ERC Advanced Grant CoDeFeL project framework, invites applications for one (01) open doctoral research position in the Control for Deep and Federated Learning project.

Purpose of the position:

The Chair of Computational Mathematics at the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain) is dedicated to advancing research, training, and outreach in Applied Mathematics. Our team works actively in areas of Applied Mathematics and Machine Learning, developing methods of Mathematical and Computational Mathematics to model, understand, design, and control phenomena at the interface of Mathematics with Engineering, Physics, Environment, Climate Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Specifically, the project aims to push the mathematical foundations of Machine Learning beyond current frontiers, inspired by control theory. The project is developed in collaboration with the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain, led by Enrique Zuazua.

Functions:

We seek a doctoral researcher specialized in Control, Mathematics, or Machine Learning, with knowledge in Partial Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, and computational skills for coding.

The candidate should be capable of addressing research challenges in the ERC CoDeFeL project and collaborating effectively within internal and external teams. Depending on experience, the candidate should be able to work independently and collaboratively in an international, interdisciplinary environment.
