About CRAG

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. It is established as a consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and the University of Barcelona (UB). Located at the UAB Campus, CRAG hosts approximately 200 members from around the world.

Research programs at CRAG utilize genomic technologies and large genetic and genomic data sets, focusing on basic and applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops, and farm animals. The center seeks a PhD student to join the group "Molecular mechanisms of circadian clock function."

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct molecular studies of R-loops in Arabidopsis and tomato plants.
  • Continuously update and train on the latest research advances to enhance project participation and development.
  • Report research findings to the group.
  • Carry out doctoral thesis research within the group's projects to obtain the PhD degree.

The tasks are part of the project PID2022 - CONVOCATORIA 2022, under the framework of the Spanish State Program for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023, with reference code PID2022-137770NB-I00.

Requirements

Educational skills:

  • Proficiency in RT-qPCR
  • Experience with 'Omics' technologies
  • Handling Arabidopsis and tomato plants

Experience:

  • Experience in plant molecular biology

Working conditions:

  • Contract duration: 6 months
  • Full-time hours per week
