The Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is seeking a PhD student to engage in research on sterol and terpenoid metabolism. The role involves characterizing tomato mutants' responses to cold stress, with a full-time commitment expected. Successful candidates will have a Master’s degree in Plant Sciences and relevant research experience.

ABOUT CRAG:

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. It is a consortium of CSIC, IRTA, UAB, and UB, located at the UAB Campus with 200 members worldwide.

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) seeks a PhD Student to join the group Sterol and terpenoid metabolism in plant development and stress responses.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Characterizing the cold stress response of tomato mutants with altered sterol profiles.
  • Quantitative analysis of plant sterols via GC-MS.
  • Gene expression analysis using qRT-PCR and prom::GUS in tomato mutants with altered sterol profiles.

This work is part of the project “PID2021 - CONVOCATORIA 2021 ‘PROYECTOS DE GENERACIÓN DE CONOCIMIENTO’” under the Spanish State Research Program, code PID2021-126591OB-I00.

Qualifications

- Master’s Degree in Plant Sciences.
