Company Description

TECNUN - School of Engineering (San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain)

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a PhD Student located in San Sebastián. We are hiring a PhD student for the TOUCAN-ONCO project, an exciting research program that aims to develop a new generation of targeted drugs for the treatment of solid tumors. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of tumor immunology, tumor biology and innovative drug delivery.

Our goal is to create safer and more effective therapies by exploiting immune-associated nucleases to activate oligonucleotide-based drugs directly within the tumor. If successful, this research could lead to a breakthrough in immunotherapy and open new therapeutic options for patients.

The PhD project will focus on understanding the tumor microenvironment and immune landscape, designing targeted oligonucleotide therapeutics and evaluating them in advanced tumor models. The student will be part of an international and multidisciplinary team working towards clinical translation of this technology.

Profile:

  • Background in tumor immunology, cancer biology, molecular or cellular biology
  • Strong motivation to work on innovative cancer therapies
  • Good communication skills in English (mandatory)
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative international environment

The position is full time for 4 years, based at the University of Navarra in Spain, with opportunities for collaboration with leading research groups across Europe.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation immunotherapies. If you are interested, please send your CV and a short motivation letter. We look forward to hearing from you.
