A prominent Spanish university is offering a PhD position focused on developing new drugs for brain cancer treatment. PhD position in the development of new drugs to treat brain cancer using new derivatives based on phosphorus heterocycles. This is a contract to carry out a doctoral thesis under the supervision of Prof. Elzbieta Regulska in the group of Prof. Carlos Romero-Nieto at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Albacete.
This project will be part of an international consortium of five research groups focused on investigating new drugs for brain cancer treatment. The objective is to synthesize and characterize new molecular systems that surpass the efficacy of existing drugs and open new research possibilities for better treatment of brain cancer.
A degree in Chemistry and a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Pharmaceutical Chemistry is preferred. Candidates must have experience in organic synthesis. Experience with chromatographic techniques (HPLC and column chromatography) and characterization techniques such as NMR will be highly valued.
Minimum undergraduate grades above 7.5 / 10 are preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Commitment to the project, willingness to learn, and ability to lead and mentor graduate students when needed.
Fluency in spoken and written English. Enthusiasm for science, proactivity, and good communication skills (in English). Must be a team player with an open attitude and social skills.

Initial duration of 1 year with the possibility of extension until the end of the PhD.
