IQS Barcelona seeks a highly motivated PhD candidate to develop a chloroplast-based platform in green microalgae for producing high-value biomolecules. The project combines synthetic biology and bioprocess engineering to expand modular cloning tools and optimize bioprocessing.

The successful candidate will enroll in the Bioengineering PhD program, join IQS-School of Engineering, and engage in international collaborations while receiving advanced training and opportunities to present at

Formación

• Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology or related fields.
• Outstanding academic record (average grade 8.5/10 or equivalent).
• Experience in molecular biology and/or bioreactor cultivation.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong motivation, curiosity, creativity and proactive attitude toward research.

Responsabilidades

• Pursue a PhD in synthetic biology and microalgal biotechnology.
• Enroll in the Bioengineering PhD program at Universitat Ramon Llull (link).
• Be based at IQS-School of Engineering, a renowned research institution.
• Receive advanced training in microalgae physiology, molecular biology, bioprocessing and data-analysis methods.
• Participate in national and international collaborations.
• Present results at conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
• Support preparation of competitive predoctoral fellowship applications (FI, FPU, INPhINIT).
