Offer Description

Position overview: For the ERC-funded research project 'Adaptation to Climate Change in Developing Countries', ICREA Professor Paula Bustos seeks to hire a part-time research assistant, starting in September 2025.

The research assistant will perform data analysis, statistical and census data analysis, and programming. The work will be carried out on campus at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, in the Department of Economics and Business.

Funding is provided by the EU's Horizon Europe programme, specifically the European Research Council Consolidator grant 'Adaptation to Climate Change in Developing Countries' (2024–2029). The project studies the effects of climate change on labour and capital flows in developing countries using micro-data from Brazil.

Prof. Paula Bustos (PhD Harvard) is an ICREA Research Professor at UPF, affiliated with the Barcelona School of Economics, and a Research Fellow at the European Economic Association, among other roles.

Research Support Staff Position

Type of contract: Open-ended, in accordance with decree RD 32/2021 of 28 December 2021. Incompatibilities: This contract might be incompatible with other contracts.

Responsibilities

• Data analysis: Processing and organizing micro-datasets.
• Statistical analysis: Applying statistical methodologies to the data.
• Programming: Adapting existing scripts and code in R, Python, Stata, or others.
• Reporting line: Reports to the principal investigator of the project.

Qualifications and Skills
