IDEMIA Malaga, Spain, seeks a seasoned Software Development Engineer to transform requirements into robust backend services using Java EE 17+, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot in a hybrid work setup.

You will design, implement and optimize backend systems, promote AI-supported development, and mentor a small team while collaborating with global teams. This role requires 4–5 years of experience and strong English communication.

Formación

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 4-5 years of experience in software development for commercial software products; senior profile favors broader enterprise experience.
• Strong backend development experience with Java EE 17 or higher.
• Good knowledge of Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining backend services in production environments.
• Experience with software engineering best practices and secure coding.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted software development tools or willingness to adopt them.
• Ability to promote AI-supported development practices within the team and define guidelines.

Purpose

This role transforms requirements into software according to design, to maximize business value and customer satisfaction.

Key Missions

• Uses programming, scripting and database languages to write software code that meets requirements and that optimizes software performances
• Identifies existing software components, libraries and frameworks to reuse in the solutions
• Applies knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, secure coding, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Contributes to requirement (functional and non-functional) analysis and estimations
• Supports software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements
• Builds up software structure including functions, design patterns, layers, etc.
• Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing code comments, layouts, diagrams and charts
• Contributes to Software architecture (specification analysis, technical studies, technology assessment, etc.)
• Codes large and complex modules within agreed quality, deadline and cost
• Performs design and code reviews and assess software performance optimization
• Contributes and promotes the organization's technical governance
• Performs complex troubleshooting
• Coaches and can manage a small team of Software Development Engineers

Profile & Other Information

Required

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum4-5years of experience in software developmentfor commercial software products. For a senior profile, broader experience in complex enterprise systems would be considered a strong advantage.
• Strong backend development experience withJava EE 17 or higher.
• Good knowledge ofSpring FrameworkandSpring Boot.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining backend services in production environments.
• Good understanding of software engineering best practices
• Practical experience withAI-assisted software development tools, or strong motivation to actively adopt them in daily engineering work.
• Ability to introduce and promote AI-supported development practices within the team
• Ability to evaluate where AI can bring measurable productivity improvements in the software development lifecycle.
• Capacity to act as anAI championwithin the engineering team by helping other developers use AI tools effectively, responsibly, and securely.
• Ability to contribute to the design of a modern development process integrating AI tools into analysis, implementation, testing, documentation, and support activities.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills in English

Working Location

The role is based inMalaga, Spain.We work in ahybrid model, with at leasttwo office visits per week.
