When you join Amazon as an Area / Shift Manager, you’ll gain experience leading a large and diverse team to ensure your area of the business keeps pace with demand. In this hands-on role, you’ll learn about the complexity of operations at a global business and what it takes to make everything run seamlessly. While implementing your team’s approach to drive productivity, you’ll also work closely with colleagues to address challenges, making each day unique.

Key job responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing
  • Analyze and implement corrective actions to maintain high quality and productivity levels, meeting business objectives across all shifts
  • Support and lead a team, handle administrative work, and foster a strong team culture
  • Analyze performance data and suggest process improvements to optimize operations and enhance customer service
  • Collaborate with other managers to standardize shift processes

A day in the life

You’ll work shifts at one of our operational sites. Your main focus will be to uphold safety standards within your team and across the site. You will monitor and maintain process efficiency, prioritize routine team management, and handle operational tasks such as escalations, process improvements, and contingency planning.

As part of the operations team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues and external partners to meet customer demands and targets. This involves analyzing data and performance metrics with leaders and discussing technical improvements with engineers.

About the team

Amazon’s transportation relies on the Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team. This diverse team plays a vital role in our success by using air, sea, and road transport, alongside advanced sortation centers, to ensure maximum efficiency. They leverage data to inform decisions and drive innovation, prioritizing safety and sustainability in delivering packages quickly and reliably.

Minimum qualifications

  • A relevant degree and experience in people management
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence decisions
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English and the local language

Preferred qualifications are not required. If you meet the basic qualifications, we encourage you to apply.

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques
  • Experience in logistics environments
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
