Practice overview: Actuarial services Madrid office

Integrated into a global network comprising more than 500 actuaries worldwide, with over 80 in the European practice launched in 2018 and continuously growing. We are seeking new actuaries during this ramp-up phase to expand our practice and serve insurance and reinsurance companies locally.

Our mission is to lead in integrating actuarial science, data science, and information technology to solve our clients' most demanding challenges.

We offer broad expertise and specialized knowledge in risks related to life insurance, property & casualty, and healthcare, providing independent, objective advice.

Our European Actuarial Services team works with major life and non-life (re)insurers across Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal.

We offer a permanent position for junior actuaries with experience in the Spanish and Portuguese markets and strong interpersonal skills.

Role and Responsibilities

• Participate in business development, contributing to proposals and identifying client leads.
• Manage workstreams within actuarial projects, setting project methodology and preparing deliverables.
• Develop intellectual capital within the Actuarial Practice.
• Assist in public presentations or press articles related to research updates.
• Support business development activities.
• Manage small projects or parts of larger projects independently under supervision.

Your Profile

• 5-6 years of relevant experience, ideally with a top-tier actuarial consulting firm, with significant experience in the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related fields. Actuaries must be members of the Spanish Institute of Actuaries or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills in writing and speaking.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and work well in teams.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Motivated and adaptable to a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Language skills: Spanish and English fluency; Portuguese is a plus.
• Experience in team management and client interaction.

Minimum Requirements

• Extensive experience in risk and actuarial projects within the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
• Understanding of IFRS17 and Solvency II regulations.
• Experience with statistical software (SAS, R) and programming languages (C#, C, Java, VBA).
• Mentoring experience with junior colleagues.
• Experience implementing risk-based capital models using Prophet, AFM, Risk Agility, MoSes, or Addactis is advantageous.
