We are hiring a Senior Data Scientist at Biome Makers, a global AgTech company dedicated to restoring soil health. We are a diverse, energetic team of industry experts, scientists, and engineers committed to innovation and tackling global challenges. Founded in Silicon Valley in 2015, we lead in soil health with our BeCrop technology, integrating soil microbiology into agricultural practices to combat soil degradation. With labs worldwide and over 1 million acres impacted, we aim to enhance soil functionality and sustainability globally.

Position : Senior Data Scientist

Location : Spain (remote)

Responsibilities :

• Design and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models for biological and environmental data, including microbiome datasets.
• Prototype and evaluate approaches to complex, unstructured problems, delivering effective solutions.
• Analyze microbiome and spatial data using automated workflows (e.g., RMarkdown, Jupyter).
• Maintain well-documented, modular code with version control (Git).
• Manage automated workflows using CI / CD tools like Jenkins.
• Communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to project planning and delivery of analytical solutions for internal and external clients.

Qualifications :

• PhD or equivalent in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, environmental science, or related field.
• At least 4 years of industry or academic experience as a Data Scientist or Statistician.
• Hands-on experience with biological count or compositional data (microbiome, gene expression, single-cell).
• Strong knowledge of statistical inference and machine learning algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python and R, with experience in version control (Git).
• Experience with CI / CD tools like Jenkins and reproducible workflows (RMarkdown, Snakemake, Jupyter).
• Familiarity with SQL, GIS tools, and R libraries.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Self-driven and proactive, capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
• Background in soil or environmental / agri-food data.
