The Network Operations (NetOps) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, escalations, and project initiatives within the Network Operations team. This role ensures the seamless execution of network-related tasks, incident management, and technical support functions, playing a pivotal role in maintaining service quality and system reliability. The NetOps Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the resolution of customer and internal technical issues, manage project implementation, and provide leadership to the operations team.
This position requires hands-on involvement in supervising and executing complex network installations, repairs, and upgrades while ensuring adherence to best practices, policies, and procedural standards. The NetOps Supervisor will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance interdepartmental efficiency and maintain operational excellence. The role also includes responsibility for ensuring the ongoing health and performance of satellite-based network systems deployed in governmental organizations (NGOs), and remote locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all technical incidents, escalations, system upgrades, network installations, and project implementations while ensuring comprehensive documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all operational issues, projects, and tasks related to Network Operations Engineering and IP services.
- Facilitate effective communication and coordination between NetOps engineers, interdepartmental teams, and external customers throughout the resolution of incidents, tasks, and projects.
- Supervise the prioritization of technical issues and operational tasks to drive fast, cost-effective, and efficient resolutions.
- Implement strong project management methodologies to ensure effective planning, execution, and completion of projects while maintaining clear communication across stakeholders.
- Develop, enhance, and enforce procedures, documentation, and best practices to improve team efficiency and productivity.
- Provide hands-on technical support, including configuring and troubleshooting network equipment such as satellite modems, routers, switches, laptops, PCs, and servers.
- Evaluate team competency levels and facilitate continuous technical training programs to build expertise and enhance skillsets within the department.
- Provide advanced remote troubleshooting and support for complex network incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal service impact.
- Maintain continuous escalation updates for Directors, Managers, and other key stakeholders regarding critical issues, ensuring clear incident management communication.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, problem assessments, and project updates with team members to drive continuous improvement.
- Assist in managing departmental scheduling, including coverage for shifts, holidays, and time-off requests, ensuring 24 / 7 operational support.
- Be available to provide technical guidance and assistance to field technicians during both standard and non-standard working hours.
- Support shift coverage requirements, including early morning, late-night, and on-call responsibilities as needed.
- Be prepared to travel on short notice for on-site support, project deployments, or emergency escalations.
- Perform additional related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience in managing technical operations teams.Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with various network and security vendors, including Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, VMware, Linux, and MikroTik. Strong expertise in TCP / IP networking is required.Hands-on experience with SD-WAN environments and multi-WAN technologies (experience with satellite networks preferred).Industry certifications : CCNA certification required; CCNP or equivalent advanced networking certifications are a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing technical teams in a high-demand operational environment.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic setting while effectively managing multiple priorities.Seniority level
