Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in Barcelona seeks a Laboratory Technician to support a multidisciplinary nanomedicine group. You will synthesize and formulate organic and inorganic nanoparticles, characterize formulations, and assist researchers in preparation, scale-up, and analytical testing.

The role involves operating and maintaining instruments (HPLC, FPLC, DLS, UV-Vis, SEM/TEM prep), training new users, and coordinating safety and documentation.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Nanoscience/Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Master’s degree will be highly valued.
• Experience in synthesis/formulation of organic or inorganic nanoparticles (polymeric, silica-based, metallic).
• Experience with nanoparticle characterization techniques (DLS, zeta-potential, UV-Vis, fluorescence).
• Experience with chromatographic techniques, especially HPLC; FPLC valued.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical formulation and characterization including drug loading, encapsulation efficiency, release kinetics, and quantitative analysis.
• Ability to work accurately, independently, and according to established protocols.
• Strong organizational, documentation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

Responsabilidades

• Synthesize and formulate organic and inorganic nano systems.
• Support preparation, optimization and scale-up of nanoparticle formulations.
• Characterize nanoformulations including drug loading, encapsulation efficiency, and release profiles.
• Develop and implement analytical methods using HPLC and FPLC.
• Physicochemical characterization using DLS, zeta-potential, UV-Vis, and fluorescence.
• Prepare samples for electron microscopy and support SEM/TEM characterization.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and ensure quality control.
• Train new group members and coordinate lab procedures and safety.
