Job summary

Dematic in Spain is seeking a MU Control Engineer to design and implement controls software for automation projects, including repairs, upgrades and extensions, and to provide frontline hotline support to customers. You will develop PLC and visualization software using Siemens and Rockwell platforms, emulate and test code, interpret electrical schematics, commission systems on-site, prepare commissioning documents, and coach end users.

Travel 30–40%; fluent English required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering at minimum.
• Hands-on experience in industrial automation environments.
• Familiarity with PLC development tools (Siemens, Rockwell).
• Understanding of safety standards and Machine Directive.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the project scope meeting safety, quality, on-time delivery and budget requirements.
• Provide technical support to customers.
• Develop PLC software and visualization systems; emulate and test software.
• Commission controls systems on-site including commissioning documentation and end-user training.
• Maintain design calculations, specifications, and test documentation.

Tasks and Qualifications:

• Deliver the assigned project scope and tasks by meeting\exceeding our safety, quality, On-Time-Delivery and budget requirements.
• Provide Support to our customers.
• To produce PLC software and/or visualization systems.
• To emulate and test PLC software.
• To interpret electrical schematics and design input information.
• To commission controls systems on-site including electrical and PLC software commissioning and to provide support to system test activities and training for the end user.
• To produce commissioning documentation including, but not limited to, commissioning checklists, test specifications.
• Provide technical guidance.
• To maintain of all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, Method Statements and Risk Assessments, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering as a minimum. Extensive proven hands-on experience working within an industrial automation environment. Understanding of PLC development tools (Siemens, Rockwell…) Good understanding of Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings. Understanding of design requirements such as Machine Directive and its standards including safety standards. Good understanding of distributed control systems. Extensive understanding of software testing and emulation. Understanding of automated warehouse desirable not essential.
