Job summary

Novanta is seeking a talented engineer to bring new motion control software to market with high quality and reliability. You will develop and maintain multi‑platform libraries, APIs, and GUI tools to simplify system commissioning and diagnostics.

You’ll work closely with firmware, QA, and cross‑functional teams to ensure robust software, and contribute to architecture, design, and test planning for Novanta Motion products.

Qualifications

• BSc, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum experience: 2+ years.
• Fluent written and spoken Spanish and English.
• Strong proficiency in Python and motion control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a set of Communication libraries.
• Develop and maintain Motion Control libraries, including advanced identification algorithms and tuning tools.
• Develop and maintain Graphical User Interfaces to simplify the commissioning of the servo‑drivers.
• Make performance and optimization trade‑offs to meet product requirements.
• Write internal documentation for Novanta Motion software platforms (architecture, detailed design).
• Work closely with the Firmware team to improve Novanta Motion products and software solutions.
• Define, together with the Quality Assurance team, test plans for Novanta Motion software products.
