WhereTo provides an AI-powered travel platform for corporate travel. Our platform uses machine learning algorithms to recommend personalized travel options based on a traveler's preferences, company policies, and budget. Our technology also enables real-time travel tracking, reporting, and cost analysis, helping companies optimize their travel programs and reduce costs.

About The Opportunity...

We are seeking a Mobile Engineer with an active, solution-oriented mindset and a focus on building a quality team and product. You will report to the Mobile Engineering Team Lead, assist in project planning and delivery, communicate progress, milestones, and roadblocks to stakeholders and management, and empower engineers to make impactful contributions toward company goals and their professional growth.

Key Responsibilities...

1. Collaborate with Engineering Management, Operations, and Product Teams to develop and execute domain-specific objectives and strategies.
2. Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to engineering management.
3. Advocate for team needs such as addressing technical debt and infrastructure improvements.
4. Provide technical guidance during code reviews and promote best practices.
5. Mentor junior engineers.
6. Select appropriate technologies and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages for problem solving.
7. Assist in gathering requirements and removing blockers from other teams.
8. Be flexible with work hours to accommodate EST/ET time zones in Canada.

Experience & Qualifications...

1. 4+ years of professional software development experience (excluding internships and personal projects).
2. 4+ years of experience with React Native.
3. Experience with state containers (e.g., Redux, Alt, Flux).
4. Proficiency in Agile development, TDD/BDD, and rapid iteration.
5. Strong understanding of Git fundamentals.
6. Experience with pure functional programming (bonus).
7. Knowledge of Native iOS/Android platforms and build processes.
8. Knowledge of React/TypeScript best practices.
9. Experience with analytics libraries (e.g., Mixpanel).
10. Travel industry experience is a plus.
11. Node.js experience is a bonus.
