Job summary

Group-IPS in Madrid is seeking a Project Engineer to lead industrial projects in the Food & Beverage sector. You will manage projects from master planning to commissioning, coordinating cross-functional teams on site and with vendors.

Fluency in English and Spanish is required, along with 3–5 years of relevant experience and a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering. Willingness to travel 60–80% and work on-site in Barcelona when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
• 3–5 years of proven experience in industrial projects.
• Experience in Food & Beverage preferred; pharma/chemicals also valuable.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; Catalan/Italian/French a plus.
• Willingness to travel 60–80% nationally and internationally; on-site in Barcelona when needed.
• Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from master planning through commissioning and closing.
• Plan, coordinate and control scope, cost, schedule and reporting.
• Coordinate construction and site activities; supervise contractors.
• Lead commissioning, start-up, and ramp-up activities including handover.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced industrial environments.
• Provide technical oversight of process engineering, utilities and civil works.

Now, we are looking for a Project Engineer in our office in Madrid, Spain

We are seeking a professional with proven on-site experience in Project management. The candidate should be eager to actively participate in a diverse range of projects, from small improvements to large-scale civil/industrial constructions in the food and Beverage sector. Project management responsibilities may include multiple phases and areas of specialization:

• Strategic Consulting: project master planning, conceptual engineering.
• Project feasibility: process description, plant layout, overall time-schedule, procurement strategy, financial plan.
• Project preparation phase: investment analysis, basic engineering, permitting, financing and procurement.
• Project realization phase: project management; detailed engineering, construction management
• Closing Phase: Comissioning Mangement, Start-up and ramp-up coordination, Performance testing, Handover to operations.

The role of Project Engineer is to deliver to the client the more than satisfactory quality of services within the budget and planning defined.

What is the role About?

We are looking for an engineer with experience in project management, able to take ownership of industrial projects across all phases. The role includes:

• Managing projects throughout the full life cycle, from master planning and feasibility to construction, commissioning and closing.
• Planning, coordinating and controlling project activities, including scope, cost, schedule, project documentation and reporting.
• Construction and site coordination, supervising contractors and ensuring compliance with quality, safety and planning requirements.
• Commissioning and start-up management, including planning, coordination with vendors and contractors, ramp-up support and handover.
• Multidisciplinary coordination in fast-paced industrial project environments.
• Technical oversight of industrial projects, covering process engineering scope, utilities and civil works.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years of proven experience in industrial project.
• Experience in the Food & Beverage industry is a strong asset
• Fluency in English and Spanish is required; Catalan, Italian or French is a plus
• Valid Category B driving license
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Project, and AutoCAD
• Experience in client relationship management
• Willingness to work on-site in Barcelona and to travel nationally and internationally (60–80%) depending on project needs
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills, proactive attitude, and eagerness to learn
