Descripción del empleo

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS zeroCO2 is expanding and consolidating its portfolio of reforestation projects with high social and environmental impact. We are looking for a professional with solid experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects to lead the technical and operational development of carbon projects based on afforestation, agroforestry, and assisted natural regeneration practices, in line with internationally recognized standards for forest-based carbon removal (e.g. Plan Vivo, Verra, Gold Standard). Your role will be crucial to ensuring the quality, integrity, and scalability of ongoing and future initiatives, working in close dialogue with local partners, technical teams, and institutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO Manage the full lifecycle of community-based ARR carbon projects, in line with the requirements of the international carbon Standards, addressing key challenges such as local engagement, long-term participation, and permanence of interventions. Coordinate local and international stakeholders (local teams, public authorities, forestry technicians, private partners), facilitating dialogue and cooperation among actors with diverse interests. Draft and oversee the technical and financial reporting required by standards and investors, including cost planning, budget tracking, and expenditure traceability. Analyze methodologies and requirements under major GHG programs, contributing to the continuous improvement of the organization’s technical frameworks. Plan and coordinate forest monitoring campaigns, supervising data collection and result analysis. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of project design and strategic planning. Support fundraising efforts and the preparation of materials for investors, buyers, and international funding calls,

including input into sales strategies and stakeholder communication. Lead project sourcing in Latin America, identifying and assessing new ARR initiatives through technical, social, and economic feasibility analysis, in line with the core criteria of GHG programs (e.g. additionality, permanence, leakage, baseline).

WHO YOU ARE You are independent, flexible, and comfortable working in complex, intercultural contexts. You take a proactive, solution-oriented approach, turning open-ended problems into actionable roadmaps. You know how to balance technical, social, and economic priorities, always focusing on impact and feasibility. You are strongly motivated by environmental challenges and social justice, with a long-term perspective.

REQUIREMENTS 5+ years of experience managing complex projects, preferably in forestry, community-based initiatives,

or international cooperation (ideally in nature-based carbon removal projects). In-depth knowledge of the voluntary carbon market (VCM) and leading GHG methodologies. Academic or professional background in forestry, agronomy, environmental economics, or related fields. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams. Advanced knowledge of Excel; experience using project management tools (e.g. Asana, ClickUp); proficiency in geospatial and satellite-based tools (e.g. Google Earth, QGIS) for land management and monitoring. Native or near-native Spanish speaker (C2); excellent command of English (C1 or above). Willingness to travel frequently across Latin America.

NICE TO HAVE Direct experience managing carbon projects and certification processes under internationally recognized standards.

Basic knowledge of environmental project finance or climate finance access. Advanced skills in remote sensing and digital MRV systems (dMRV).

WHAT WE OFFER A dynamic, international, and innovation-driven work environment. High organizational flexibility – every second Friday off; remote work possible (except for field missions). Continuous learning – annual training budget for courses, conferences, and mentoring. Feedback culture – open communication and focus on personal and professional development. Tangible impact – projects that deliver measurable benefits to local communities and ecosystems.
