Alstom in Barcelona seeks a Mechanical Lead Engineer for General Studies to oversee mechanical integration on rail projects. You will define train geometry, manage weight allocations, and collaborate with design teams to ensure compliant, deliverable solutions for tenders.

Key requirements include railway engineering experience, CATIA-V5 and Enovia know-how, and strong communication in an international environment. English proficiency is essential, with a hands-on, structured work approach.

• Experience in Mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products.
• Knowledge of CATIA-V5 and 3Dcom/Enovia.
• Knowledge in programming.
• Knowledge of Doors® is a plus.
• Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer) in an international environment.
• Time management and reporting skill.
• Sense of urgency / priority.
• Structured and organised with Hands-on approach.
• English operational in read/writing and technical meetings.

Responsabilidades

• Define rolling stock size to guarantee traffic safety and optimize space.
• Create kinematic envelope of the bogie and ensure no interference with adjacent installations.
• Carry out weight balance and allocations for trainset throughout tender/project phase.
• Define train layouts and carry out detailed studies for accessibility regulations.
• Define and share requirements with Train Design Team and allocate proof of requirements.
• Define with Train Design Engineer the list of installations (IBS) forming the train.
• Manage volume and interfaces for each installation on the 3D mock-up.
• Manage the Preferred Parts List (3PL) to meet project objectives.
• Specify tints and colours according to the Design Book.
• Ensure General Studies deliverables quality and acceptance by Customer.
• Report on General Studies progress and alert if issues risk QCD commitments.
• Manage planning of General Studies activities.
• Check sub-contractor's Design Quality.
• Prepare and document General Studies Design Reviews per project schedule.
• Define mitigation plans for identified risks.
• Verify design via mock-ups or simulations.

Mechanical Lead Engineer – General Studies in Barcelona.

We're looking for a Mechanical Lead Engineer to manage Mechanical Integration activities and deliverables on projects and tenders. You’ll work alongside people who show up with ownership, passion, and dedication - because they know what's at stake: the journey home.

Your role, your impact

• Define rolling stock size in order to guarantee the traffic safety and the optimization of the allowed space.
• Create kinematic envelope of the bogie and guarantee there is no interference with adjacent installations.
• Carrying out the weight balance of the trainsets, define the weight allocations for all installations and components and to manage the evolution of the trainset weight during the tender/project phase.
• Defining the layouts of the train. Carry out detailed studies to comply with accessibility regulations.
• Defining and share with the Train Design Team the requirements which defines the architecture of the train, including the following tasks: Clarifying requirements, Synthetizing requirements, Analysing & developing requirements, Allocating requirements and Proposing Means of Proof associated to Requirements
• Defining with the Train Design Engineer and implement the list of installations (IBS) which forms the train.
• Managing the allocated volume and the interfaces for each installation on the 3D mock-up.
• Managing the Preferred Parts List of the project (3PL) assuring the achievement of the objectives of the project.
• Specifying the tints and colours of the parts of the trainset according to the Design Book
• Ensuring General Studies deliverables quality and their acceptance by the Customer (internal or external) within committed limits.
• Reporting on General Studies activities progress and alerting relevant N+1 in case of issue potentially impacting achievement of QCD commitments.
• Managing planning of General Studies activities.
• Checking sub-contractor's Design Quality
• Preparing and documenting General Studies Design Reviews according to project schedule and following-up the main open actions.
• Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on General Studies scope.
• Verifying design via mock-ups or simulations.

What you bring
