Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited in Madrid, Spain, is seeking a Mechanical Installation Tendering Engineer to drive the technical and commercial preparation of complex mechanical installation tenders, collaborating with procurement, engineering and production teams. You will analyze specifications, perform cost estimations, and select equipment including chillers and AHUs.

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in mechanical installations.
  • Experience with HVAC and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Strong Excel skills for measurements, estimating and commercial comparisons.
  • Experience with Presto, Arquímedes or similar estimating/costing software.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs.
  • English B2 Level.
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or similar.

Responsabilidades

  • Analyse tender documents, technical specifications, drawings and project documentation.
  • Prepare technical and commercial tenders for mechanical and HVAC installations.
  • Carry out measurements and prepare project cost estimates.
  • Undertake basic calculations and sizing of mechanical systems, including HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Chilled water systems.
  • Pipework, pumps, valves and associated equipment.
  • Ventilation and extraction systems.
  • Ductwork and air distribution.
  • Drainage and condensate systems.
  • Select and price mechanical equipment including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion vessels, dry coolers and fan coils.
  • Request and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare technical and commercial comparison sheets.
  • Identify alternative technical solutions to optimise project costs while maintaining technical requirements.
  • Prepare technical submissions, scopes of work, exclusions and supporting tender documentation.
  • Review mechanical drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Support the development of technical solutions and value-engineering proposals.
  • Coordinate with Electrical, Engineering, Procurement and Production teams.
  • Provide technical support to the project delivery team during the initial stages of awarded projects.
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients, suppliers and engineering consultants.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Installation Tendering Engineer to join a growing team. The successful candidate will drive the technical and commercial preparation of complex mechanical installation tenders while collaborating closely with procurement, engineering, and production departments. Key duties involve analyzing technical specifications to generate accurate cost estimates, undertaking foundational calculations for HVAC and hydraulic systems, and selecting appropriate mechanical equipment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will evaluate supplier quotations and develop value-engineering solutions to optimize project budgets without compromising technical standards.

Responsibilities:

Skills/Must Have:
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in mechanical installations.
  • Previous experience within an installation contractor, engineering consultancy, construction company or specialist MEP business.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Strong Excel skills for measurements, estimating and commercial comparisons.
  • Experience with Presto, Arquímedes or similar estimating/costing software.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs.
  • English B2 Level
