We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician, specializing in Mechanical and Auxiliary Systems, to support operations in Rota, Spain starting March 2026. This role focuses on providing expert-level technical, engineering, and logistical support for Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems on U.S. Navy ships, contributing directly to fleet readiness and mission success for our Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) customer.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting, repair, and assessment of U.S. Navy shipboard mechanical and auxiliary systems, including but not limited to deck machinery, underway replenishment systems, elevators, conveyors, and miscellaneous hoists.
  • Conduct on-site and remote technical assistance to resolve equipment casualties and perform system evaluations for HM&E systems.
  • Support assessment programs such as Total Ships Readiness Assessments (TSRAs), Integrated Class Maintenance Plans (ICMPs), INSURV/Mid-Cycle Inspections (MCIs), Ballistic Missile Defense Readiness Assessments (MBDRAs), and pre-deployment readiness assessments.
  • Perform logistics support by identifying parts requirements, validating Allowance Parts Lists (APLs), and coordinating repairs.
  • Train ship’s force personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and logistics procedures.
  • Prepare and submit Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVRs) and other technical documentation in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and FDRMC guidelines.
  • Utilize Government software systems, including Fleet Technical Support (FTS), Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM), and Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) to document findings and track system performance.
  • Draft assessment procedures when necessary and recommend updates to technical documentation such as MRCs, technical manuals, and drawings.
  • Obtain and review technical references and standards from OEMs, Government Technical Libraries, and approved websites, such as MBPS.
  • Support Integrated Logistics Support efforts and provide engineering input to improve system readiness.
  • Participate in overseas (OCONUS) travel as required to support deployed ships in the 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Responsibility (AOR).
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
  • Within the last ten (10) years, a minimum of four (4) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the maintenance, installation, testing, or repair of U.S. Navy ship auxiliary equipment and systems.
  • Within the last ten (10) years, a minimum of two (2) years full-time experience in a lead technician role for maintenance, installation, testing, or repair of U.S. Navy ship auxiliary systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. Navy HM&E systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues in shipboard environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Navy maintenance management programs (FTS, MFOM, NMD, MBPS).
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and for extended periods to OCONUS locations.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Formal Navy or DoD technical training in mechanical/auxiliary systems or related disciplines.
  • Prior experience supporting Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) and shipboard assessments in support of FDRMC or similar Navy activities.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy assessment programs such as TSRA, INSURV, or ICMP.
  • Experience drafting or revising maintenance and technical documentation.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring ship’s force personnel on HM&E systems.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support processes and Navy supply systems.
