Position: Matte Painting Supervisor

You will guide and inspire the team, maintain smooth relationships, and work in unison with other departments for the successful production of animated feature films.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team in creating photo-realistic DMPs, stylized DMPs, and concept art.
• Provide guidance to the team and supervise work quality.
• Highlight cost implications of requests or changes.
• Help maintain directory structure, naming conventions, and files.
• Interact with other departments to troubleshoot creative and technical issues, ensuring continuity and integration within sequences.
• Serve as the primary contact for the department.
• Participate in meetings to set direction and creative goals, ensuring technical and budgetary requirements are met.
• Assign work based on team members' skill sets.
• Supervise work quality and work closely with production to meet deadlines.
• Partner with HR and TA to source and recruit top industry talent.
• Mentor emerging artists and guide their career development.
• Act as a company ambassador, utilizing your industry network, and contribute to Skydance’s reputation as a first-class workplace.
• Stay updated on current technology trends and tools to enhance the creative and technical environment.
• Coordinate with other departments to develop and implement procedural solutions for shows.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in VFX or animation industries.
• 4+ years of experience as a lead in the animation industry.
• Strong creative and technical leadership skills to inspire and motivate staff.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Houdini with Renderman, Nuke, Blender, Maya.
• Experience in building new pipelines.
• Advanced English skills; Spanish oral and written skills are desirable.
