Airbus Defence and Space SAU in the Madrid area seeks an experienced Materials & Processes engineer to join the LO materials lab development and pre-prototyping area. You will lead lab setup and manage testing activities, balancing high technical expertise with project leadership.

The role requires at least five years in materials & processes, strong lab background, and capability to work across international teams while traveling as needed. Hybrid working and diverse benefits are offered.

Formación

  • Academic: Degree in Engineering or Science; a Master’s degree is highly valued.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in materials and processes with laboratory experience.
  • Technical Skills: experience in laboratories; knowledge of REACH; material development; understanding of aircraft materials and quality standards.

Responsabilidades

  • Prepare new building: prepare requirement dossier, CapEx dossier, coordinate needs, ensure Health & Safety, plan budget.
  • Manage new building: maintenance and follow-up of activities, calibration of equipment, area management, health & safety compliance.
  • Materials and Processes Development: support R&D and optimization of composites, metals, surface treatments, paints, sealants, elastomeric technologies; prepare test samples.
  • Representation and Leadership: represent TADAP3 in meetings; lead testing development for Low Observability materials.
  • Test Plans Definition: help define test plans for R&T, design and development of new technologies and materials.
  • Failure Analysis: conduct future failure analysis for the assigned scope.
  • Support to Services and Industrial Environment: provide technical support to services, CML, and the industrial environment.

Job Description

The successful applicant will join Materials & Process Department (TADAP3, M&P Development) as part of Airframe organization.


We are looking for an Engineer or Sciences Degree with experience and general background in Materials and Processes (Composites, Metals, Surface Treatments, Paints, Sealants and Elastomeric Technologies, specially in relation with materials with Low Observability characteristics). Experience in laboratory environment is required.


Main task will be to prepare new building and manage new laboratory for LO material mixing and testing and pre-prototyping area.


The position requires a good balance between a high technical expertise in M&P projects, materials and associated processes in general and managerial skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Prepare new building: Preparation of requirement dossier for the building, prepare CapEx process dossier, coordination of needs of all departments, establish compliant Health and Safety measures, prepare the financial plan...

  • Manage new building: once the building is finished, maintenance and follow up of the activities, maintenance and calibration of equipments, maintenance of the area, Assurance of compliance for Health and Safety, area management...

  • Materials and Processes Development: support the research, development, and optimization of composite materials, metals, surface treatments, paints, sealants, and elastomeric technologies. Support the preparation of test samples.

  • Representation and Leadership: Represent TADAP3 in project meetings, MFT's, and task groups. Lead the testing development activities of Low Observability materials

  • Test Plans Definition: Support to define test plans for R&T, design, and development of new technologies and materials.

  • Failure Analysis: Conduct future failure analysis for the assigned scope.

  • Support to Services and Industrial Environment: Provide technical support to services, CML, and the industrial environment.


SKILLS


  • Academic: Degree in Engineering or Science. A Master's degree in Engineering or Science is highly valued.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials and processes, with a comprehensive understanding of appropriate test methods. Laboratory experience is required. Experience in management of laboratory/pre-prototyping area is desirable.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Experience in scientific and technological laboratories (materials analysis, physical observation of samples).

    • Experience in qualifications and development of new material, processes and suppliers.

    • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, services, and CML.

    • Deep knowledge of REACH.

    • Experience in impact analysis and problem-solving.

    • Knowledge of material requirements for Airbus standards and quality standards.

    • Experience in material technology development.

    • Knowledge of materials for low observability applications, as well as thermal or electrical functionalities.




Soft Skills


  • Flexibility, interpersonal skills, ability to find solutions, and capacity to handle pressure.

  • Advanced level of English and Spanish. Other languages are also appreciated.

  • Availability for relatively frequent travel.

  • Experience in international environment.
