Manager, Software Engineering (Recoveries)

Location: Remote Spain

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or interest.

The Recoveries team, part of the Repayments area, aims to build a robust platform to maximize recovery of charged-off loans, monitor and minimize discrepancies between our systems and our business partners'. You will manage loans through their final lifecycle phase and develop recovery strategies.

The vision of the Repayments team is to create transparent, flexible repayment experiences that build customer loyalty, which is vital for Affirm's strong unit economics.

What you’ll do

• Lead, mentor, and grow an engineering team responsible for our loan recovery processes.
• Mentor engineers to improve design, code quality, and testing.
• Ensure system availability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with product managers to design systems for reconciliation and reporting.
• Work with engineering teams across the loan lifecycle.
• Build relationships and engage with senior management.
• Participate in on-call rotations as required.

What we look for

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with leadership roles, including 1+ years as an engineering manager.
• Passion for improving consumer financial services.
• Experience managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Backend development expertise.
• Experience with consumer-scale products.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and GAAP is a plus.

Base Pay Grade - P

Equity Grade - Spain 6

Compensation includes base pay, benefits, and potential equity rewards. Benefits include health coverage, stipends, wellness days, parental leave, and community groups.

Visa sponsorship is available, but the role requires being based in Spain.

Location

Remote Spain. Affirm is a remote-first company, with most roles allowing work from anywhere within the country. Some roles may require occasional office presence.
