What PepsiCo Enterprise Data Operations (EDO) does :
- Maintain a predictable, transparent, global operating rhythm that ensures always-on access to high-quality data for stakeholders across the company.
- Responsible for day-to-day data collection, transportation, maintenance / curation and access to the PepsiCo corporate data asset.
- Work cross-functionally across the enterprise to centralize data and standardize it for use by business, data science or other stakeholders.
- Increase awareness about available data and democratize access to it across the company.
As a Data Engineering Manager, you will be the key technical expert overseeing PepsiCo's data product build & operations and drive a strong vision for how data engineering can proactively create a positive impact on the business.
You'll be empowered to create & lead a team of data engineers who build data pipelines into source systems, rest data on the PepsiCo Data Lake, and enable exploration and access for analytics, visualization, machine learning, and product development across the company. You will help develop large and complex data applications in cloud environments, impacting the design, architecture, and implementation of key data products in areas like revenue management, supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics. Collaboration with process owners, product owners, and business users is essential. The environment includes in-house, on-premise data sources, as well as cloud and remote systems.
Responsibilities
Your day-to-day with us :
- Provide leadership and management to a team of data engineers, managing workflows, vetting designs, and mentoring.
- Act as a subject matter expert across digital projects.
- Oversee data structuring, storage, and linking with standard identifiers.
- Manage and scale data pipelines supporting product launches and data quality.
- Build automation and monitoring frameworks for data pipeline metrics and KPIs.
- Implement best practices for systems integration, security, performance, and data management.
- Increase data adoption and create value through data science and business intelligence.
- Collaborate with data science and product teams on solutions and POCs.
- Enhance the data platform's architecture with enterprise architects and partners.
- Develop procedures to productionalize data science models.
- Define and manage SLAs for data products and processes.
- Create documentation and reusable packages for knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed :
- Over 8 years in technology, including 6+ in software development, data engineering, and systems architecture.
- Extensive expertise (6+ years) in Data Lake, Data Warehousing, and Analytics tools.
- Proficiency in SQL tuning, Python, PySpark, Scala.
- 4+ years cloud data engineering experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Advanced Azure knowledge; Azure Certification is a plus.
- Skills in data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Experience with data profiling and quality tools (e.g., Deequ, Great Expectations).
- Background in distributed systems for large datasets.
- Knowledge of MPP databases (Redshift, Synapse, Snowflake).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers (Kubernetes).
- Version control and CI/CD tools.
- Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Machine Learning tools.
