Job summary

Sécheron Hasler Group in Madrid is seeking a Senior R&D Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design and industrialization of high‑power converters for rail and related markets. You will model, specify components, and coordinate protections, validation, and testing across customer projects.

You will also prepare testing documents and contribute to cost estimation while providing technical leadership to project teams. Proficiency in Spanish and English is required.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or above in Power Electronics Engineering or related field with a minimum experience of 5 years.
• Understanding of functional characteristics of Power Electronics and knowledge of control for converters
• Knowledge of IGBT-based Voltage Source Converters (VSC)
• Knowledge of Thyristor-based Line Commutation Converters (LCC)
• Knowledge of simulation tools like MATLAB/SIMULINK, PSIM, etc.

Responsibilities

• Design and industrialization of AC/DC, DC-DC and DC/AC converters in the range of 1-10MW and 500-1500Vdc.
• Modelling of Voltage Source and Line Commutated Converters.
• Specification of components (IGBT, cooling systems, magnetics) and harmonics design.
• Verification of compliance with specifications and standards; coordination of protections, validation and testing.
• Preparation of converter testing documentation.
• Analysis of customer specifications and cost estimation.
• Technical leadership in customer projects and support to project management.
