Job summary

Sécheron Hasler Group in Madrid is seeking a Junior R&D Power Electronics Engineer to design and industrialize AC/DC, DC-DC and DC/AC converters for high-power applications. You will model converters, specify IGBT-based VSC components, and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

You will support cost estimation, project coordination, and testing documentation, while developing solutions for renewable energy and railway systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Power Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Understanding of functional characteristics of Power Electronics and knowledge of control for converters.
• Knowledge of IGBT-based Voltage Source Converters (VSC).
• Knowledge of Thyristor-based Line Commutation Converters (LCC) is a plus.
• Knowledge of simulation tools like MATLAB/SIMULINK, PSIM, etc.

Responsibilities

• Design and industrialization of AC/DC, DC-DC and DC/AC converters in the 1-10MW and 500-1500Vdc range.
• Modelling of Voltage Source and Line Commutated Converters.
• Specification of components (IGBT, cooling systems, magnetics); Harmonics, filters and PF compensation.
• Verification of compliance with specifications and standards.
• Coordination of protections, validation, and testing.
• Preparation of converter testing documentation.
• Analysis of customer specifications.
• Offer preparation and cost calculation.
• Technical leadership in customer projects and support to project management.

Main tasks

• Design and industrialization of AC/DC. DC-DC and DC/AC converters in the range of 1-10MW and 500-1500Vdc.
• Modelling of Voltage Source and Line Commutated Converters.
• Specification of components (IGBT, cooling systems, magnetics) DC & AC Harmonics calculation, filter design, power factor compensation.
• Verification of compliance with specifications and standards.
• Coordination of protections, validation, and testing.
• Preparation of converter testing documentation.
• Analysis of customer specifications.
• Offer preparation and cost calculation.
• Technical leadership in customer project execution and support to project management department.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Power Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Understanding of functional characteristics of Power Electronics and knowledge of control for converters.
• Knowledge in IGBT-based Voltage source Converters (VSC).
• Knowledge of Thyristor-based Line Commutation Converters (LCC) is a plus.
• Knowledge of simulation tools like MATLAB/SIMULINK, PSIM, etc.
