As Machinery Safety Engineer, you will report directly to the HUB HSE Manager (Europe) and act as a technical lead and subject matter expert in machine risk assessment , functional safety for machinery , and machine safeguarding according to industry consensus (regional / local) and internal business standards .

We seek a professional with a holistic view who understands the complexities of change processes and project management.

You will collaborate closely with regional and factory operations teams, playing an active role in decision-making to advise and support the implementation of safety-critical controls for industrial machinery capital projects and upgrades.

You will lead efforts in identifying and sharing transferrable best practices, evaluating, and developing local machine safety competencies.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead risk assessment initiatives and risk mitigation efforts within machine safety.
  • Support organizational capability building by providing machine safety training and developing technical competencies at local sites.
  • Lead deployment strategies and plans for successful cross-functional implementation of internal corporate and business standards related to machine safety.
  • Assist in investigating incidents (including near misses and recordable injuries) to determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support response and containment actions for machine safety-related emergencies.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement of the machine safety process by collaborating with site, functional, and business leaders as a regional business partner.
  • Provide technical safety advice and risk reviews for capital projects involving machinery, tools, and equipment, working with global process and equipment experts and key suppliers.
  • Assist in defining scope for preventative maintenance plans on machinery and equipment.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to support local sites is expected.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (HSE education or similar experience is desirable).
  • Knowledge of EU Machinery Directive 2006 / 42 / EC, ISO 12100 : 2010, and fundamental safety design principles.
  • Over 5 years of regional experience in machine safety process / program management, maintenance, risk assessment, and design.
  • Experience reading and designing diagrams for electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to initiate actions and make decisions.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to build trust across organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel and broaden experience.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
