A leading agriculture technology firm is seeking an IoT Field Support Engineer. This remote-first role will support the deployment and operation of IoT sensor systems across Spain. Candidates should have a background in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Software Engineering and be comfortable working hands-on with sensors. ROLE DESCRIPTION
As an IoT Field Support Engineer, you will be a key part of the SecondSky Data team, supporting the deployment and operation of our IoT sensor systems across Spain and worldwide. These include cutting-edge sensors that feed data into our intuitive SaaS platform.
You’ll work hands-on with sensors and cloud systems, provide first-line support for both hardware and software, and collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement to our customers. We’ll train you in our technology, so while experience in IoT or agriculture is a plus, it’s not essential.
This is a remote-first role based in Spain,
with a strong preference for candidates located in Southern Andalucía (East coast) Málaga, Granada, or Almería, due to regular travel needs in Almería and surrounding regions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role’s primary responsibilities are listed, but not limited to the below:
Field & Technical Support
Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of IoT sensor hardware
Provide first-level troubleshooting (remotely and on-site) for sensor and connectivity issues
Assist customers in using the web and mobile SaaS platform
Maintain clear documentation of issues, installations, and resolutions
Customer Success & Internal Collaboration
Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, ensuring excellent support and communication
Act as a liaison between customers and internal hardware, firmware, and software teams
Provide field insights and feedback to the Product team to guide platform and device improvements
Assist in validating firmware and platform updates before rollout
Travel & Deployment
Travel frequently across Spain, especially to Almería, and occasionally worldwide
Support international projects, customer training, and deployment where needed
Represent SecondSky professionally in the field with a problem-solving, service-oriented mindset
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
This role will report to the Head of Hardware (working closely with the Head of Product too) and is expected to have/be:
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Software Engineering.
Experience: both experienced and entry-level candidates (including fresh graduates) can apply.
Comfortable working hands-on with sensor devices, power, and connectivity
Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills
Ability to work independently, manage travel schedules, and troubleshoot effectively
Interest in IoT and SaaS platforms
Based in Spain, ideally Málaga, Granada, or Almería
Valid driving license and readiness to travel across Spain and abroad
Language Requirements: Native Spanish speaker with professional English communication skills
NICE TO HAVE (NOT REQUIRED)
Experience with IoT networks.
Familiarity with MQTT or cloud dashboard platforms
Exposure to agriculture or precision farming technologies
