Job description

About Grupo Merino

Grupo Merino is a premier international agro-industrial group with over 40 years of excellence in the market. Through our local operation, Agropecuaria del Guadiana, we manage 300 hectares of high-yield estates in Ayamonte (Huelva) right on the beautiful Portuguese border. We are a leading exporter of Persian limes, Hass avocados, and pomegranates to the entire European market.

We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Logistics & Supply Chain Coordinator to join our team on-site in Ayamonte to streamline our shipping, cold-storage warehouse management, and distribution networks.

Role Overview

As our Logistics Coordinator, you will oversee the daily on-site supply chain actions at our agricultural facilities. You will coordinate outgoing international freight trucks, manage warehouse stock levels, supervise picking and packaging lines, and ensure all sanitary and export documentation matches EU agricultural laws. This is a 100% on-site role based entirely at our facilities in Ayamonte, Spain.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Freight and Carrier Management: Coordinate and track international and domestic freight movements (ocean, rail, and over-the-road trucking) from production plants to North American distribution points.
  • Customs and Compliance: Monitor and prepare necessary documentation for customs clearance, ensuring strict adherence to USDA, CFIA, and FDA import/export regulations for agricultural goods and animal nutrition.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee real-time inventory levels across regional third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses in the US and Canada to prevent stockouts or overages.
  • Vendor Relations: Source, negotiate rates with, and evaluate the performance of domestic carriers, brokers, and warehouse providers to optimize shipping costs and delivery times.
  • Operational Optimization: Identify supply chain bottlenecks or delivery delays and proactively implement solutions to maintain high delivery fulfillment rates.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Sales and Procurement teams to align inventory availability with upcoming regional distribution timelines and customer demands.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain coordination, or import/export operations. Experience handling physical goods, manufacturing, or agricultural products is highly preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of North American freight logistics, cross-border shipping protocols between the US/Canada, and standard customs procedures.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with modern Supply Chain Management (SCM) software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables), and inventory tracking databases.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to handle high-stress shipping delays, route changes, and logistics emergencies independently.
  • Language Skills: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills; conversational or professional proficiency in Spanish is a strong asset given our corporate roots, but not mandatory.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience and local Andalusian agricultural benchmarks.
  • Stable, long-term full-time contract (Contrato Indefinido).
  • Opportunities to grow within an expanding multi-national agribusiness network.
  • Dynamic, multicultural work environment working alongside industry leaders.
