Suntory Global Spirits in Madrid is seeking a Local Financial Controller Associate for a maternity cover. You will partner with local market teams and provide financial guidance to support business decisions, ensuring accurate local statutory reporting and robust controls.

Responsibilities include coordinating close processes, advising management on accounting implications, working with auditors, and maintaining compliance with group policies across Local GAAP and IFRS.

Formación

• 4-6 years of experience in finance or accounting.
• University degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent.
• Technical skills including CPA/ACCA, Big 4, SOX knowledge.
• SAP R3 FI and BW/EDW experience.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Collaboration and effective stakeholder management.
• Presentation experience and strong communication in an international environment.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure Local Accounts are properly stated with strong controls and accurate financial statements for the local entity.
• Record transactions for statutory and management reporting according to group policies and procedures; ensure timely closing and reporting to HQ.
• Close processes in accordance with deadlines and accounting principles (Local GAAP and IFRS).
• Advise senior management on accounting implications with a business partnering mindset, offering solutions and alternatives.
• Cooperate with internal and external auditors to support timely audits.
• Review financial statements, balance sheet forecasts, and GL reconciliations.
• Ensure policies and procedures are kept up-to-date and compliant; implement regional processes locally; meet statutory requirements.
• Identify control gaps and develop mitigation measures.
• Perform ad hoc duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Role Responsibilities

Role Mission

Ensure Local Accounts are properly stated and there is strong controls in place to guarantee minimal risks and accurate Financial Statements for the local legal entity.

It is a fundamental role in the finance structure of the company, ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded for statutory and management reporting purposes according to Group Policies and internal procedures. The role´s duties also include accountability for accurate and timely closing and financial reporting to HQ.

Responsibilities/ Outcomes

• Ensure quality and accuracy of the execution of close process for the local reporting unit in accordance with established deadlines and Company Policies and Accounting principles (Local GAAP and IFRS).
• Advise senior management on Accounting implications of current operations in accordance with Corporate policies & IFRS requirements with a strong business partnering mentality, always providing with solutions and/or alternatives to the business.
• Cooperation, engagement and coordination with various auditors (conducted by internal and external parties) to support timely and efficient completion of audits.
• Review of specified elements of the financial statements including critical, sensitive and judgmental areas, balance sheet forecasts, monthly general ledger account reconciliations…
• Responsible to ensure all business policies/ procedures are appropriate and timely updated and fully compliant with all internal/ external regulations and requirements. Implement standard Regional processes and requirements in the local unit. Responsibility on ensuring Statutory requirements are met.
• Highlight any process/ control gaps during the course of normal operations and develop measures to mitigate weaknesses.
• Ad hoc roles deem relevant and appropriate for the role as assigned by direct reporting manager

Qualifications

• 4- 6 years experience
• University degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent
• Technical skills (Accounting background, CPA/ACCA, Big 4, SOX)
• SAP R3 FI, and BW/EDW experiences
• Ability to work under pressure, comfortable with a fast-paced, change environment, result-oriented, paying careful attention to details.
• Collaboration and effective stakeholder management.
• Presentation experience (including preparation and delivery)
• Strong communication skills in an international environment
