RL People is recruiting a Group Financial Controller to lead the finance function across three Spanish entities. This senior role combines financial control, IFRS/FRS 101 expertise and strategic business partnering in a growing international group.

Based in Madrid, you will partner with local boards, UK and international teams, drive budgeting, forecasting and group reporting, and oversee treasury, tax and acquisitions work as the business expands.

Formación

• Qualified accountant with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
• Strong IFRS and FRS 101 knowledge.
• Experience leading finance teams in multinational settings.
• Proven budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis skills.
• Excellent Excel and financial modelling abilities.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced, qualified Group Financial Controller to lead the finance function across three Spanish entities and play a key role in an exciting period of growth, transformation and change. This is a senior leadership opportunity combining financial control, technical accounting, commercial finance and strategic business partnering.

You’ll have broad responsibility for the Spanish finance function, working closely with senior stakeholders across Spain, the UK and internationally. You’ll provide financial leadership while also contributing to acquisitions, refinancing, treasury, new business opportunities and wider Group projects.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence how finance operates, strengthen controls and processes, and provide insight that directly supports commercial and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance teams across three Spanish entities.
• Own financial control, reporting, governance and financial performance.
• Lead monthly, year-end and Group IFRS reporting.
• Manage statutory accounts and relationships with external auditors.
• Provide technical accounting expertise across IFRS and FRS 101.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Develop financial models to support pricing and new business opportunities.
• Oversee treasury, cash flow, working capital and refinancing activities.
• Manage local tax compliance and associated advisers.
• Support acquisitions, due diligence, integration and other strategic projects.
• Present financial performance and key issues to local Boards and senior leadership.
• Partner with commercial and operational teams to drive business performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and controls.
• Provide financial analysis and support for wider international Group initiatives.

Requirements

You’ll be a technically strong, commercially minded finance leader who enjoys working in a dynamic, international environment.

You'll ideally bring:

• A recognised professional accounting qualification.
• 5+ years' post-qualification experience.
• Strong experience in financial control, reporting and statutory accounts.
• Excellent technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS and FRS 101.
• Experience managing finance teams and developing people.
• Strong audit, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis experience.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Experience with treasury, cash management or refinancing is desirable.
• Acquisition, due diligence or integration experience is advantageous.
• Experience within a multinational or Group environment is beneficial.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong Spanish language skills.
