This role would be based at our Madrid office working on a hybrid basis. We are flexible on the number of days in the office and on location and would consider applications from people who can work at one of our other European offices (Malmo (Sweden), Whitley (UK), or Manchester (UK)).

Please ensure your CV is uploaded in English so the team can review.

What will you be doing in this role?

As our Senior Security Engineer, you will build and test new security controls and tools for wider adoption and implementation across all Tunstall regions, countries, and entities, positively impacting thousands of colleagues and millions of customers across 18 countries. You will be driving the continuous improvement of our security posture by enhancing our defenses through new security tools in various domains, including Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Extended Detection and Response (XDR), email protection platforms, identity and access management, and privileged access management tools, network security controls, and more.

Being proactive with continuous improvement and continuously challenging the suitability of our security controls and tools, and revisiting whether we can improve or should replace them is vital to the success of this role.

The Ideal candidate :

To be successful in this role, you will have considerable experience in cybersecurity, with proven experience in a similar security engineer role. You will have a deep understanding of the cybersecurity market (vendors, solutions, new trends), cyber threats and their evolution, adversarial techniques, tactics and procedures, and industry frameworks, standards, and best practices such as MITRE.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in IT and cybersecurity, extensive and proven knowledge and experience with security solutions (EDR, XDR, etc.), and a good understanding of applied cryptography and secure protocols. An ability to manage complexity and make decisions with limited information is vital to the success of this role.

What we offer :

  • Hybrid Working,
  • Competitive salary + potential bonus,
  • Boost your learning and growth through access to a Talent Library with over 800 courses, and access to Udemy or O’Reilly learning platforms,
  • A warm and welcoming team environment and a chance to build a rewarding career.

Some of your key tasks will be :

  • Build and test new security controls and tools, and develop and own the technical documentation, including technical designs, standard operating procedures, and the knowledge base, so the security operations teams can run the controls and tools effectively and efficiently.
  • For some given tools, manage the backlog of new features, prioritize them based on stakeholder input and capability gaps, hold influential discussions with the vendor about future roadmap, and prepare plans towards improvement.
  • For some given tools, be the third line of support (no on-call is needed) to support during troubleshooting and service incidents escalated by the security operations teams.
  • Continuously challenge the suitability of our security controls and tools, and revisit whether we can improve or should replace.
  • Prepare and communicate analysis reports describing existing gaps and suggested roadmap.
  • Conduct market research and pilot security solutions that will improve our security posture.
  • Support the SOC in integrating new security controls and tools to expand security monitoring and detection capabilities.
  • Keep a constant innovative, challenging, and constructive attitude towards continuous improvement.

Key skills and experience :

  • Considerable experience of working in cybersecurity with proven experience in a similar security engineer role.
  • Deep understanding of the cybersecurity market (vendors, solutions, new trends), cyber threats and their evolution, adversarial techniques, tactics and procedures, and industry frameworks, standards, and best practices such as MITRE.
  • Strong technical background in IT and cybersecurity.
  • Proven experience building and testing new cybersecurity controls and tools in a complex, multinational organization.
  • Extensive and proven knowledge and experience with security solutions in various domains, such as EDR, XDR, network security, email security, or identity and access management.
  • Good understanding of applied cryptography and secure protocols.
