An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Library Manager to oversee a physical library serving thousands of users across Europe. In this role, you will manage library operations, ensuring user support and resource availability while coordinating with IT for digital infrastructure. Be part of our client knowledge ecosystem by managing one of the European Space Agencies physical libraries and related services for more than 6000 users across Europe.
Physical Library Management : Organise and run a library in Darmstadt, Madrid or Noordwijk ensuring availability, user support, timely delivery and maintenance of equipment like 3D printers.
Library Resource Management : Manage the acquisition and upkeep of digital and physical resources, based on user needs and usage data. Handle negotiations, subscriptions, and ad hoc requests.
Access & Findability : Maintain updated listings to ensure all resources are online accessible via the Library Management System connected to the intranet.
Tools & Infrastructure : Coordinate with IT and external providers to ensure smooth operations of the library’s digital tools and systems.
Evaluation & Reporting : Track and report on service usage, propose yearly updates to the portfolio, and identify improvement actions.
Promotion & Engagement : Promote library services and encourage ESA staff to actively use available knowledge resources.
YOUR EXPERIENCE & TALENTS
Proven experience in library or information services management within a scientific, technical, or international organization.
Hands-on experience with Library Management Systems (especially Alma / Primo ExLibris), digital archives, and intranet-based content.
Familiarity with inter-library loan processes, physical archive management, and weeding / deselection policies.
Knowledge of copyright, licensing agreements, open access, bibliometrics, and citation tools is a plus.
University degree in Library and Information Science, Knowledge Management, Documentation, or a related field.
Fluency in English is required; additional languages (German, French, Spanish, or Italian) are an asset.
Frequent presence in the library of Darmstadt, Madrid (part-time) or Noordwijk (full-time) possible.
