About the role

This role involves providing legal advice to support the company's commercial success across all business units. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, support legal processes, and mitigate risks. Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance in Australia, you will primarily negotiate and manage contractual agreements with suppliers and large enterprise or government clients, and advise on GDPR compliance.

This is a 12-month contract role to cover maternity leave.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct timely contract reviews and negotiations for the Soprano Group in Europe and LATAM, including :
  • Customer service agreements (Managed Service Telecom Providers and direct SaaS)
  • Supplier agreements (carriers, aggregators, technology providers)
  • Consulting services agreements
  • Marketing and advertising material and contracts
  • Draft and negotiate non-standard customer arrangements to minimize legal and commercial risks.
  • Assist the sales team with legal and regulatory questions during RFTs and customer surveys.
  • Provide proactive legal, regulatory, and contractual advice on issues like intellectual property, telecoms, and privacy law.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and customer offerings, including service terms and policies.
  • Manage litigation and advise on claims, including labor disputes with external support.
  • Improve processes, policies, and legal precedents continually.
  • Manage outsourced legal services, including litigation and labor disputes.
  • Oversee corporate management of legal entities and delegations of PoAs in assigned regions with external support.
  • Serve as the primary contact within the legal department for international privacy matters, including GDPR compliance, with support from an external DPO.
  • Advise on employment law, corporate, financial, strategic initiatives, and ad hoc legal matters.

Soprano may assign additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of post-qualified legal experience in a European jurisdiction, preferably from a top-tier law firm and relevant in-house experience.
  • Sound judgment and excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Experience managing multiple demands, working under pressure, with strong negotiation skills and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Creative problem solver who remains calm under pressure and can prioritize effectively.
  • Full working rights in Spain.
