WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As Legal Counsel, you will support various areas of Santander Consumer Group, working collaboratively within a team. Your focus will be on M&A activities, with key responsibilities including:

  • Leading and advising on domestic and international M&A deals, including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating transaction documents such as NDAs, SPAs, and shareholder agreements.
  • Conducting and overseeing legal due diligence processes.
  • Providing strategic advice on deal structuring and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to evaluate risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate governance during transactions.
  • Liaising with external legal counsel, regulators, and counterparties.
  • Building relationships with internal teams like finance, strategy, and operations.
  • Staying updated on relevant financial laws and regulations.
  • Handling cross-border legal issues and coordinating with local counsel as needed.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in similar roles, either in law firms or as an in-house lawyer in regulated companies.

EDUCATION

  • European-qualified lawyer with a Law degree.
  • Specialization in fields related to Santander Consumer Finance activities is preferred.

  • Excellent English and Spanish communication skills, both oral and written, with high-quality drafting abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
