Lean Manager for Warehousing & Distribution

This role focuses on optimizing warehouse operations using Lean principles to improve productivity, efficiency, reduce waste, streamline processes, and achieve best-in-class, highly competitive logistics operations. It involves overseeing daily warehousing activities, ensuring effective resource use, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to support organizational goals. The position can be based in Spain, Slovenia, or Czechia, with frequent travel (around 40%) to partner warehouses globally (Europe, US, Canada, Australia, etc.) to identify on-site improvements.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  1. Process Optimization: Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in warehousing processes such as receiving, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping through Lean methodologies (e.g., 5S, Value Stream Mapping).
  2. Waste Reduction: Minimize waste in areas like overstocking, excess motion, waiting time, and underutilized space, ensuring smooth flow and high productivity.
  3. Training and Development: Train warehouse staff on Lean techniques and foster a culture of continuous improvement through workshops and coaching.
  4. Performance Metrics: Develop and track KPIs related to warehousing, such as order accuracy, picking efficiency, inventory turnover, and on-time shipping, using data to drive improvements.
  5. Continuous Improvement Projects: Lead Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and other projects, ensuring sustainable results that are scalable across sites.
  6. Change Management: Collaborate with supplier operations teams and warehouse managers for seamless implementation and knowledge transfer.

Travel Requirement: Frequent on-site presence at various warehouse locations, with the ability to drive improvements and transition to new sites as needed.

What You Need To Bring To The Role
  • University or advanced degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related fields
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Lean management within Warehousing & Distribution
  • Fluent English; additional languages are a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven warehouse management, logistics, or operations experience
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Knowledge of WMS and inventory control methods
  • Experience managing high-impact, short-cycle projects
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to operational improvements
  • Understanding of compliance standards in regulated industries like pharmaceuticals
