Matchtech is recruiting a Lead Technician for a world-renowned luxury yacht builder based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. You will work across mechanical, propulsion, steering and plumbing systems to deliver servicing, repairs and refits to exacting industry standards.

This hands-on role requires strong marine engineering expertise and a proactive approach, with close collaboration with owners, captains and contractors.

Formación

• Minimum 5 years' experience within the marine engineering sector.
• Strong knowledge of steering, propulsion, mechanical and plumbing systems.
• EU work permit or legal right to work in Spain.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver service and repair projects safely, efficiently and to agreed deadlines.
• Service and repair marine steering systems including rudder removal and bearing replacement.
• Carry out propulsion system works including shaft removal and propeller servicing.
• Complete mechanical refit works including engine room refits and engine replacements.
• Service and replace seacocks and other onboard plumbing systems.
• Produce accurate technical reports and communicate with customers.
• Maintain organized work schedules and high workmanship standards.
• Support a safe working environment and collaborate with the wider service team.

The Role

As a Lead Technician within the Service department, based in Palma de Mallorca, you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining luxury sailing yachts. Working across a wide range of mechanical, propulsion, steering and plumbing systems, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality servicing, repairs and refit activities to exceptional industry standards.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong marine engineering knowledge, problem-solving ability and a proactive approach. You will work closely with owners, captains, contractors and internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver service and repair projects safely, efficiently and to agreed deadlines.
• Service and repair marine steering systems including rudder removal, rudder bearing replacement and steering system servicing.
• Carry out propulsion system works including removal of propeller shafts, servicing propellers, replacing cutlass bearings, shaft seals, thrust bearings and flexible bearings.
• Complete mechanical refit works including engine room refits, engine replacements and marine engine servicing.
• Service and replace seacocks, pumps and other onboard plumbing systems.
• Produce accurate technical reports and maintain clear communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain organised work schedules and ensure high standards of workmanship throughout all activities.
• Support a safe working environment and maintain a clean, meticulous workspace.
• Work collaboratively with the wider service team to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.

About You

• Strong marine engineering knowledge across steering, propulsion, mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Valid EU work permit or existing legal right to work in Spain.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within the marine engineering sector.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Comfortable working under pressure and managing deadlines.
• Logical and resilient problem solver with strong attention to detail.
• Quality-focused with pride in delivering exceptional workmanship.
• Team player with a flexible and positive attitude.

Qualifications & Desirable Experience

• Marine Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in fabrication and machining.
• GRP repair experience.
• Full driving licence.
• EU work permit.
• Previous experience working on luxury yachts, sailing yachts or within the wider marine industry.
• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and refit projects.
