We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our new team in Europe, developing the next-generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.

Job Description

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will take ownership of developing and integrating new components into the OpenNebula platform. This role requires a passion for open-source infrastructure, with expertise in virtualization, storage, networking, and cloud-native ecosystems.

You will drive technical strategy, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and lead the development of integrations with enterprise storage, SDN, and backup solutions. This role combines architecture-level thinking with hands-on coding, suitable for a highly experienced developer aiming for broader leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development of new OpenNebula components, extensions, and integrations.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with platforms like NetApp, Ceph, Veeam, Commvault, and networking plugins.
  • Evaluate and implement drivers for SDN, SDS, and backup systems.
  • Ensure code quality through testing and reviews.
  • Collaborate on architecture and strategy with product and engineering teams.
  • Contribute to open-source codebase with clean, scalable, and documented code.
  • Serve as a technical contact for infrastructure partnerships.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge internally.
  • Engage with ecosystem partners and participate in customer technical discussions as needed.
Experience Required
Academic Background and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
Professional Experience
  • At least 3 years in senior engineering roles, such as Senior Developer or Infrastructure Architect.
  • Experience leading initiatives and mentoring engineers.
Technical Skills
  • Extensive experience in systems programming or backend development with C++, Python, or Go.
  • Strong background in private cloud, virtualization, and open-source platform integration.
  • Hands-on with technologies like Ceph, NVMe, NFS, Fibre Channel, NetApp, Veeam, InfiniBand, SDN.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux, scripting, and automation tools like Ansible and systemd.
  • Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
Language Skills
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to document and communicate clearly, work independently, and manage time effectively.
