We are looking for a Lead / Principal Generative AI Python Engineer (Remote work) to help build LLM-based agentic applications.

Job Purpose

As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Generative AI, you will design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge LLM-based agentic applications. This role requires hands-on expertise in frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, and techniques including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and fine-tuning. You will be expected to deliver tangible results yourself. You will build solutions to meet functional requirements for innovative Trimble products, collaborating across global teams and leveraging agile methodologies. Your work will directly influence the delivery of intelligent, scalable, and robust AI-driven applications. Additionally, you will provide non-technical management with an overview of capabilities, risks, and opportunities related to these technologies.

Main Responsibilities

1. LLM Application Development: Architect, implement, and optimize Generative AI applications leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs). Quickly learn and adopt agentic frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph to orchestrate LLM-based agents.
2. Working with RAG frameworks: Use techniques like chunking, hybrid search, query translation, similarity search, vector DBs, evaluation metrics, and ANN algorithms.
3. Monitoring performance: Use observability services such as Datadog and Databricks for LLM observability and analytics.
4. Keep track of latest research: Stay updated with advancements in fine-tuning, RLHF, and prompt engineering, including DSPy.
5. System Design & Architecture: Translate high-level product requirements into scalable, modular software designs following modern design principles, microservices architecture, and cloud-native best practices.
6. Testing & Integration: Develop comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure code quality. Integrate solutions across systems, perform bug fixes, and conduct quality assurance.
7. Collaboration & Mentorship: Work with cross-functional stakeholders, including business analysts, product managers, and global development teams. Mentor junior engineers in LLM-based solution design, implementation, and deployment.
8. Agile Delivery: Work in an agile environment, plan and execute sprints, meet deadlines, and handle production issues across multiple time zones.
9. CI / CD & Version Control: Use CI / CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and maintain code in GitHub for seamless releases.

Qualifications & Experience

• 8 to 15 years of engineering experience in a tier-1 organization
• Strong proficiency in Python

• Graduated from a top-tier institute in Computer Science Engineering
• Impressive performance in national Olympiads or talent searches is a plus
• Experience presenting papers, contributing to open-source, or participating in standards bodies is advantageous
