We are looking for a Lead / Principal Generative AI Python Engineer (Remote work) to help build LLM-based agentic applications.

Job Purpose

As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Generative AI, you will design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge LLM-based agentic applications. This role requires hands-on expertise in frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, and techniques including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and fine-tuning. You will be expected to deliver tangible results yourself. You will build solutions to meet functional requirements for innovative Trimble products, collaborating across global teams and leveraging agile methodologies. Your work will directly influence the delivery of intelligent, scalable, and robust AI-driven applications. Additionally, you will provide non-technical management with an overview of the capabilities, risks, and opportunities related to specific technologies.

Main Responsibilities

1. LLM Application Development: Architect, implement, and optimize Generative AI applications leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs). Quickly learn and adopt agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph) to orchestrate LLM-based agents.
2. Working with RAG frameworks: Use techniques such as chunking, hybrid search, query translation, similarity search, vector databases, evaluation metrics, and Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) algorithms.
3. Monitoring performance: Use observability services such as Datadog and Databricks for LLM observability and analytics.
4. Keep track of latest research: Stay updated with advancements in fine-tuning, Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), and prompt engineering, including tools like DSPy.
5. System Design & Architecture: Translate high-level product requirements into scalable, modular software designs adhering to modern design principles, microservices architecture, and cloud-native practices.
6. Testing & Integration: Develop comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure code quality. Perform bug fixes and rigorous quality assurance.
7. Collaboration & Mentorship: Work with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and guide solution design, implementation, and deployment.
8. Agile Delivery: Manage sprints, meet deadlines, and handle production issues efficiently across time zones.
9. CI / CD & Version Control: Use CI / CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and maintain code in GitHub for seamless releases.
