Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior / Lead GenAI Engineer to design, build and scale production-grade Generative AI solutions for a leading banking sector client. You will own from architecture through deployment, mentoring engineers and collaborating with risk and compliance stakeholders to ensure regulatory standards are met.

The role emphasizes hands-on Python, LangChain/LlamaIndex, LLMs, and cloud deployment across AWS/Azure/GCP with a strong focus on security and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with production GenAI/LLM solutions.
• Expert-level Python and modern GenAI frameworks.
• Deep understanding of RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering, eval methods.
• Experience integrating LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI).
• Experience with vector stores (Pinecone, OpenSearch, FAISS, Weaviate).
• Cloud deployment experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) for scalable AI workloads.
• Strong focus on data security, privacy and regulatory considerations for banking.
• Proven ability to lead initiatives and mentor teams.
• Fluent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy production-grade GenAI solutions (RAG pipelines, chatbots, multi-agent systems).
• Lead prompt engineering, chain-of-thought orchestration and evaluation pipelines.
• Architect end-to-end RAG pipelines: ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector store, retrieval.
• Deploy GenAI apps on cloud infrastructures with emphasis on scalability and cost control.
• Define and implement ML/Ops practices: versioning, evaluation, production monitoring.
• Mentor engineers and guide technical direction for GenAI initiatives.
• Translate banking stakeholder requirements into robust GenAI solutions.
• Collaborate with architecture, security and compliance teams to meet regulatory standards.
• Drive technical ownership from architecture to secure production deployment.
