Job summary

Bain & Company seeks an AI Engineer within AIS to design, build, and deploy generative AI systems that translate client challenges into measurable business outcomes.

You’ll work closely with Bain consultants, product managers, and data scientists to move solutions from prototype to production, mentor juniors, and shape technical direction while balancing performance, safety, and cost.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied AI roles.
• Demonstrated experience shipping generative AI features or systems end-to-end.
• Clear communication across engineering, product, and data science teams.
• Willingness to mentor peers and contribute to technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, and deployment of end-to-end generative AI systems.
• Build and iterate AI pipelines including RAG, fine-tuning, and embedding generation.
• Implement reasoning, tool use, function calling, and orchestration across AI workflows.
• Develop agentic systems with robust memory, modular design, and tool integration.
• Maintain APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and cloud deployments with observability.
• Support GenAIOps processes for automated testing and latency monitoring.
• Balance performance, safety, and cost; apply responsible AI practices.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, ethics, and infra teams.
