Job summary

CoachHub seeks a seasoned Lead Engineer to guide core development, blending hands-on coding with team leadership. You will drive AI-first practices, architectural standards, and cross-team collaboration to scale the next generation of our global coaching platform.

You will mentor a diverse team across frontend, backend and full-stack disciplines, while staying hands-on to influence code quality and AI agent integration. Remote-first, with strong engineering culture and impact.

Lead Engineer

Location: 100% Remote from Spain or Germany

The Opportunity

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on Lead Engineer to guide our core development team as we design, build and scale the next generation of our global coaching platform.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly collaborative, fast-paced team that is actively defining what it means to build an AI-first engineering culture. If you are a seasoned player‑coach who wants to help lead the charge in establishing new engineering practices while keeping a direct, hands-on impact on our codebase, this is the role for you.

What You’ll Do

• Empower & Mentor: Lead and grow a high-performing team of frontend, backend and full-stack engineers through active mentorship.

• Stay in the Code: Remain an active individual contributor, writing clean code, orchestrating AI agents and running technical reviews.

• Champion AI-First Engineering: Introduce agentic coding practices at a scale most engineers have never seen before, and help every engineer on the team make the most of them.

• Set Technical Direction: Maintain rigorous architectural standards and high quality as AI tools write a growing share of our codebase.

• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Product and our Infrastructure counterparts (Data, DevOps and QA).

Your First Year

• Months 1 to 3, Deliver & Lead: Get to know our platform, team and clients, take ownership of the smooth delivery of an upgraded UI.

• By Month 6, Build the AI Foundations: Set up advanced agentic coding loops and autonomous agents that catch and fix bugs, accelerate client feedback loops and rapidly unlock the feature backlog.

• By Month 12, Take AI Beyond the Product: Collaborate across the business (Sales, Marketing, HR, Legal, Finance) to design and build custom AI-native tools that simplify work and drive efficiency across all of CoachHub.

What You Bring

• Deep Technical Roots: 8+ years in software engineering. You built your foundations before the AI era, so you know what robust software architecture looks like, and you've since learned to build it far faster with AI.

• An AI-native Mindset: You use tens of agents, Claude Code, Cursor or similar tools daily, understand agentic workflows, and have automated tasks you used to do by hand.

• Scale-Up Traction: At least the last 1-2 years in a fast-growing scale-up. You know how to collaborate across teams and avoid the shortcuts of solo hacking.

• Full-Stack Mastery: Deep, production-level experience with TypeScript/JavaScript across the stack (React, Node.js, NestJS, Next.js).

• True Player-Coach: 2+ years of formal engineering leadership (1:1s, performance, team alignment) while staying hands-on with code within the last two years.

• Thinker & Doer: You can move from strategic alignment with Product to rapidly debugging a critical system. You're proactive and solve problems before they escal…

• Relentless Curiosity: You genuinely enjoy what you do. Experiment with new tools for the fun of it, build things just to see what's possible, and follow the latest breakthroughs in AI with real excitement.

• English Fluency: Excellent written and spoken communication.
