About You

We are seeking a Data Engineering Technical Lead to work within our dynamic data engineering capability to deliver cloud-based data solutions using best-in-class Modern Cloud platforms for blue-chip customers across the FS&I sector.

You will lead cross-functional teams of Data Engineers and Architects, collaborating with client-side technical teams, business analysts, and quality assurance analysts to provision data processing, storage, and visualisation capabilities in an Agile environment. You will be comfortable with stakeholder engagement and take overall ownership of the technical delivery of your team and the solution they are building.

You are an articulate communicator who can simplify complex problems for non-technical audiences. With strong communication skills in written and spoken English, you are passionate about staying updated on the latest developments in Data Engineering.

Skills and Experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in data engineering and recent experience as a lead developer, technical lead, or data solutions architect
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Must have experience working with Databricks including Delta, Unity Catalog, Autoloader, and DLT.
  • Great programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, and/or Scala.
  • Experience with data technologies such as ETL, SQL, NoSQL, data lakes, Spark, Kafka.
  • End-to-end understanding of the cloud data development lifecycle from ingestion to consumption.
  • Proven background in delivering complex data engineering solutions on modern data platforms, including lake house and lambda architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team of technical experts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
Other Relevant Skills and Experience
  • Experience in consulting, delivering data solutions for clients, preferably in FS&I but other industries considered.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik.
  • Good understanding of DevOps principles and experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Docker.
  • Experience with data security and compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA.
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts.
  • Understanding of cloud platform infrastructure.
  • Experience managing project budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Supporting business development teams with technical input and client pitches.
Education

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.

Communication Skills
  • Strong ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills in written and spoken English.
