OPIS Software Developer Position

OPIS, a Dow Jones company, provides price transparency across the global fuel supply chain, including the Spot, Wholesale Rack, and Retail markets. We enable energy commodity transactions through accurate data, real-time news, software, and educational events. We are expanding our software development team, which will play a vital role in global OPIS Product Development, working closely with our HQ in Gaithersburg, US. We seek candidates with a unique blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Work independently on large, complex projects.
  • Deliver value to customers and the organization with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with technical and functional partners to develop data solutions that transform raw data into insights.
  • Research and evaluate technology options aligned with company data strategies.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders' interests and expectations effectively.
  • Present and document complex concepts clearly.
  • Make strategic decisions based on sound reasoning and trade-offs.
  • Embrace agile development, continuous integration, delivery, and improvement.
  • Maintain high quality standards and take ownership of your work.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience as a database developer (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake preferred).
  • Experience in creating and maintaining data models and stored procedures.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries, performance monitoring, and tuning.
  • Knowledge of data architecture for large-scale solutions.
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET, Python, or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or Power BI.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and performance analysis.
  • Fluent in English, with effective communication skills.
