Job summary

Clarivate is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - AI Product development to join our AI Engineering team in Barcelona. You will design and build backend services, APIs, and microservices in Python, deploying to Azure/AWS while advancing LLM-driven solutions.

You will work with a small, highly skilled team, reporting to the Engineering Manager, collaborating with Product, Cloud Ops, Architecture, and SMEs in a hybrid model with core CET hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years backend in Python.
• At least 5 years in cross-functional, agile teams.
• At least 3 years working with LLMs or agentic AI applications.

Responsibilities

• Shape AI platform initiatives for LS&H products from concept to implementation.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and ETL pipelines in Azure or AWS.
• Translate requirements into high-quality code and proof-of-concepts.
• Collaborate with Cloud Ops, Solution Architecture, Product Engineering, and SMEs.
• Build and iterate LLM-based or agentic AI applications with reliability.
• Evaluate and integrate with applications in other languages (e.g., Java, TypeScript).
• Lead the technical approach on assigned work from design to production.
• Test, validate, and improve solutions with unit tests and automation.
• Progress projects from concept to prototype and production planning.
• Work in an agile environment with continuous improvement.
