Job summary

The People Foundry is seeking an experienced Aerospace CAD Designer to own the development of high-altitude aircraft structures. This senior role blends hands-on CAD work with technical leadership, guiding a small team of 1–3 designers through concept, through to detailed design and integration.

You will lead multi-disciplinary interfaces across mechanical, thermal and electrical domains, pushing ultra-lightweight designs using composites, foams, films and additive manufacturing to deliver

Qualifications

• Extensive aerospace CAD experience and a hands-on senior mindset.
• Ability to own CAD assemblies from concept to detailed design.
• Proven track record leading a small CAD design team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
• Own complex CAD assemblies and manage interfaces between structural systems.
• Provide technical leadership to a small team of CAD Designers (1–3).
• Develop ultra-lightweight structures using advanced materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Design structural solutions using composites, foams, films and additive manufacturing.
• Develop routing and integration points for electrical, power and communications systems.
• Coordinate across mechanical, thermal and electrical interfaces to resolve complex design challenges.
• Drive weight reduction while ensuring structural performance and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with engineering and workshop teams to convert CAD into hardware.
